Sandfords sponsor community orchard in Primrose Hill

By Holly AddinallMonday, 24 November 2014

We have recently sponsored a local project in Primrose Hill, a community orchard bringing home grown fruits to the area including apples, pears, quinces and plums.

At Sandfords, we believe that this is the type of project that is vital to support. We were so pleased to be able to fund a scheme like this, one that helps the community in which we work. Over the years Primrose Hill has built up a brilliant sense of community, a rare quality in such a big city, and it’s because of activities such as these that connect the local people together. What a great feature to add to such a lovely village.

The new fruit garden was planted by a group of ‘guerrilla gardeners’ in October on a patch of greenery by St George’s Terrace, land owned by the Primrose Hill Community Centre, and is now open to the public.

The fruit trees, which apparently spent the last 18 months growing, are already producing fruit for the local community to pick and take home.
